ABOUT US

OUR COMPANY

McDonald Grain was started in 1921 by John J McDonald as a coal company in Rosedale Kansas, he later sold animal feeds, and then after the depression became a full line Feed Store.  Primarily the dairy feeds as their main focus.  By 1940 his son took over as the operator of the store due to his father's interest in local politics, he was the mayor of  Kansas City, Kansas for one term. His son John & his wife Maxine operated the store for the next 41 years.  During their tenure they manufactured dog foods and cleaned and salvage grain from the local rail yards. They were quite successful, they also raised a daughter, named Pepper.

In 1981 Bob & Nancy Collier bought the store, from John & Maxine McDonald, the grain business was no longer a viable business. Bob & Nancy Collier sold pet foods and supplies, they also expanded stores in the area, to six all together. Then 1994 they decide to include home delivery in the business. They also raised a family, two children, Keith & Brooke Collier. This is a family owned and run company, doing business with other local people here in the Kansas City metro area.
